Administrator/ M.A., L.M.F.T.

What positive attributes do you bring to your job?

I believe God has given me the gift of Administration which come s in handy as the Administrator of Family Solutions.  I have organizational skills which can be a two-edged sword; you will either appreciate it or the it will drive you absolutely nuts. The last attribute I’ll mention is that of... looking at how something works and figuring out how to make it work more efficiently. I love kids and think that if we can help just one, we will inevitably change the life of hundreds if not thousands from that one child.

What are your feelings towards Family Solutions, as an employee?

I absolutely love working for Family Life Foundation, dba Family Solutions, the board of directors is amazing and allows me as an Administrator to be creative; therefore, if we, as a staff have a new idea and it is in line with our mission statement then their response is, “let’s try it”!  I couldn’t ask for a better place to work or more supportive people to work with.  The team we currently have working together is exactly that, “a team”.  We work hand in hand, work hard, laugh lots, and are able to help children and families at the same time.

What prior experiences have helped you in your current job position?

I think every job I have had prior to being the Administrator of Family Solutions has helped me in my current position.  I have worked at a Deli making sandwiches, at a hospital as a nutritionist, Burger King, Italian Cottage, Esplanade Manor Board & Care for Mentally Disturbed Adults as a cook, medication person, activities director and eventually administrator, have taught 3rd and 5th grades, and have cleaned restaurants in the wee hours of the mornings.  I got married in 1986 and am a step-mother, and biological mother to three beautiful young adults.

Where did you receive your degree or qualifications?

I received my B.A. in Liberal Studies and my teaching credential from Chico State University.  I received my Masters in Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Counseling from University of San Francisco.  I was also able to attain my Marriage and Family Therapy License.

What date were you hired at Family Solutions?

April 12th, 1996

What is the most rewarding aspect of your profession?

Sappy as it may sound, the honest answer to this question is simply being able to positively affect the life of a person.
